Eczema
This is what has gotten me great results with this:
- Doing a 3 month food elimination diet
- Doing the 4R gut healing program to help with restoring gut function and alleviating Dysbiosis, etc. Sensitization Dysbiosis occurs when the immune system reacts with abnormal or aggravated responses to the digestive process. Microbes in the gut and foods produce exotoxins that irritate the gut lining. Our bodies recognize these toxins as foreign substances and produce antibodies that signal the immune system to get rid of them. Unfortunately, this local reaction might be the cause of some autoimmune diseases. RA, ankylosing spondylitis, and
perhaps skin disease such as eczema and psoriasis are often the result.” - Following the fungal diet for 6 months
- Doing a 2 month fungal protocol with Formula SF722 and Cancid Forte
- In TCM, eczema can be from issues with the KD, LU, or SP, in which heat is created. It is typically due to constraint, which creates phlegm, which obstructs the vessels in which heat is created.

Possible fungal infection
A friend of mine contacted me this week and told me he’s experiencing
the following symptoms:
Dry mouth, mood swings, sinus problems, irritable, anxiety, brain
fog, mild depression, tiredness, excessive thirst, frequent toilet at
night, sugar cravings, spaced out feelings, constipation/diarrhoea
(alternating on a daily or weekly basis)
Following some recommendations from myself he says his symptoms have
massively decressed since cutting out grains and sugars, but some
still remain.
He’s also experieced headaches since cutting grains/sugars out, and
thinks this may just be his body reacting to the new diet.
His tongue is getting back to normal colour too and the dry mnouth is
improving.
I thought that his problems could stem from fungus/parasite and
recommended a Kaufmann style diet for 2-12 weeks depending on his
symptoms and ability to keep to the protocol.
Have advised him to order the Fungus Link< how to Eat. Move & Be
Healthy and also the Body Ecology Diet for information on re-
colonising the gut.
I’ve also spoken to fellow Chek Practitioner, Dave Hompes, who’s
doing great work whilst studying with Dan Kalish on his Functional
Medicine course.
He suggested that a hormonal imbalance could be at the root cause of
the problem i.e. excess cortisol = reduced immunity = potential for
parasite/fungus to take root and flourish.
It sounds like there may be a lot going on. Start small with NLC principles and work into other areas such as lab tests, herbal protocols, etc. The symptom list that you presented is pretty common with people that have digestive dysfunction, weakened immune systems, and possible parasite or fungal infections. The best thing to do is:
- Start with the basic NLC foundation principles
- Do a food elimination diet for 3 months
- After 3 months if a plateau, etc, you can add in an adrenal, gut or hormonal profile
- I would rec doing the 4R gut healing protocol
- After 3 months if you still feel he might have a fungal issue, I rec doing the fungal diet for 6 months. I have clients do Phase 1 for 3 months and Phase 2 for 3 months. I have 100% results with this. Doing it for 2-12 weeks is not enough to make a change.
- Most of what you listed in TCM is secondary to a SP qi deficiency (eating too many cold foods, fasting, eating the wrong foods, etc) and LV over acting on SP. This creates the alteration of constipation to diarrhea. When this happens, the SP cannot transform and transport, which causes digestion and elimination issues, as well as cravings for sweet things (to supp a deficient earth element). There are tons of herb decoctions and points that can help, but I have found that the NLC principles work just fine as well to correct this over time.

Seizure disorder unexplained
As for epilepsy or seizure disorders, there are a couple of places this has been shown to come from. One major cause that I have read about, seen DVD’s about, etc is gluten. Anything but corn, rice and buckwheat, contains gluten. Stay away from any grain, sprouted or not. If it is wheat bread, etc and says gluten free, stay away from it. It is highly denatured! As well, stay away from any type of soy, as this will make things worse. Most sauces if you read them carefully have some type of gluten in them. The reason one might have epileptic seizures while eating gluten is because gliadinin once ingested is converted to gluteomorphine. This substance has been shown to be highly addictive, but also interrupts the facilitory-inhibitory cycle of the cell. So when things are supposed to cool down or turn on, they don’t. There is a constant struggle, degradation and mostly over excitement of things happening in the cells, neurons and brain mater.
The other area that has been shown to cause epilepsy is excitotoxins. These are things like MSG and aspartame or any type of natural sweetener. Anything that says low calorie, artificially flavored, sauces from restaurants (typically contain excitotoxins and gluten), etc stay away from. Manufacturers hide MSG now a days by using the name hydrolyzed vegetable protein. That is basically MSG (glutamate) extracted from damaged, old and moldy veggies, boiled, dried out, solvents are added and the sludge is skimmed off to use. In the book Excitotoxins Richard Blaylock states as well the most natural products still contain 20-60% hydrolyzed vegetable protein in them. Excitotoxins cause dendrite and axon degradation, have been shown as a major player in affecting the substantia nigra in Parkinson’s, the hypothalamus-pituitary in certain endocrine disorders, as well as altering the facilitory-inhibitory balance of the cells causing them to continually to fire = seizures.
Epilepsy in TCM is secondary to many causes and it all depends on what the person is presenting with. A lot of the time it is due to issues with the wood element, blood stasis or unsubstantial phlegm obstructing the vessels. Within my clinic at school, I have seen some great results with the addition of certain herb decoctions to relieve or prevent seizures.
At the same time, keeping your MD in the loop is a smart thing to do.
