Treating Ring Worm: Fungus not parasite

Ringworm is a contagious fungus infection that can affect the scalp, the body, the feet (athlete’s foot), or the nails.

  • People can get Ringworm from: 1) direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or pet, 2) indirect contact with an object or surface that an infected person or pet has touched, or 3) rarely, by contact with soil.
  • Ringworm can be treated with fungus-killing medicine.
  • To prevent Ringworm, 1) make sure all infected persons and pets get appropriate treatment, 2) avoid contact with infected persons and pets, 3) do not share personal items, and 4) keep common-use areas clean.

 What is Ringworm?

Ringworm is a contagious fungus infection that can affect the scalp, the body (particularly the groin), the feet, and the nails. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with worms. The name comes from the characteristic red ring that can appear on an infected person’s skin. Ringworm is also called Tinea.

What is the infectious agent that causes Ringworm?

Ringworm is caused by several different fungus organisms that all belong to a group called “Dermatophytes.Different Dermatophytes affect different parts of the body and cause the various types of Ringworm:

  • Ringworm of the scalp
  • Ringworm of the body
  • Ringworm of the foot (athlete’s foot)
  • Ringworm of the nails

Where is Ringworm found?

Ringworm is widespread around the world and in the United States. The fungus that causes scalp Ringworm lives in humans and animals. The fungus that causes Ringworm of the body lives in humans, animals, and soil. The fungi that cause Ringworm of the foot and Ringworm of the nails live only in humans.

How do people get Ringworm?

Ringworm is spread by either direct or indirect contact. People can get Ringworm by direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or pet. People can also get Ringworm indirectly by contact with objects or surfaces that an infected person or pet has touched, such as hats, combs, brushes, bed linens, stuffed animals, telephones, gym mats, and shower stalls. In rare cases Ringworm can be spread by contact with soil.

What are the signs and symptoms of Ringworm?

Ringworm of the scalp usually begins as a small pimple that becomes larger, leaving scaly patches of temporary baldness. Infected hairs become brittle and break off easily. Yellowish crusty areas sometimes develop.

Ringworm of the body shows up as a flat, round patch anywhere on the skin except for the scalp and feet. The groin is a common area of infection (groin Ringworm). As the rash gradually expands, its center clears to produce a ring. More than one patch might appear, and the patches can overlap. The area is sometimes itchy.

Ringworm of the foot is also called athlete’s foot. It appears as a scaling or cracking of the skin, especially between the toes.

Ringworm of the nails causes the affected nails to become thicker, discolored, and brittle, or to become chalky and disintegrate.

I have treated this fungus, yes fungus (most think it is a parasite-worm because of its name), on myself and on many clients. I do find that most do get it from person to person contact or contact with another surface touched, rubbed, etc by someone that has it. It is a very contagious fungus, so washing clothes and sheets daily is important. Below is how I have treated this with success.

1. Kaufman fungal diet for 2-3 months (please feel free to email me or click on the file for the diet). This is a key to the success and erradication of fungus, as mycotoxins feed off sugar. I find that the clients that follow this 100% of the time, are the ones that get results.

2. Pea D’arco tea each night for 1 wk

3. Formula SF-722: Castor bean oil. This should be taken 5 pills in the morning and night for one month, off for a month and then the same for the 3rd month.

4. Cancid Forte:

High Potency Natural Ingredients

Whether originating from overindulgences, a high sugar diet or other cause, our natural formula succeeds in addressing overgrowth issues through natural means. (Pau D’Arco Extract, Sodium Caprylate, Berberine Sulfate, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Oregano Extract, Cinnamon Extract)

Cleansing Action

To help support the body in its natural function of eliminating unwanted particles, Candicid Forte includes Berberine to stimulate Kupfers cells to “digest” those cells, helping the body cleanse itself. (Berberine Sulfate, Oregano Extract)

Soothing Agents

Our special formula includes carminitive herbs that reduce occasional gas, bloating and cramping. (Ginger Root, Chamomile, Cinnamon Extract)

This should be taken 4 in the morning and night for the second and third month.

5. Oregano oil: This can be super hot. This should be directly applied with water and a towel 2-3 times a day.

Expressions from my soul

Illusions in our mind

Life goes on.

Funky places of all kind

Life goes on.

Take me to that place

Life goes on.

Don’t wait until tomorrow

Life goes on.

I feel your sorrow

Life goes on.

We are free flowing

Let it go

Don’t wait

Let go of that sorrow.

The illusions are gone

We are here

The beauty in life

It is so clear.

If feel your presence behind it all

The beauty and clarity

You and ME

Feeling!

The soul opens up

Is it love?

Is it feeling?

All I know is that you give my life meaning!

Cage Fighter with Sciatic Pain

I have a new client who has come to me with extremely bad sciatica. He  is cage fighter with the flatest lumbar curve Ive ever seen, and until  we started working together he wore a weight belt all the time – from  fighting through to walking around on a daily basis. He had restricted  mobility all over, particularly trunk rotation.I have started by putting a hold on his fighting and working on his  core – getting his brain to communicate with his muscles. However,  some days he cannot even do 2 reps of horse stance vertical due to the  pain in his buttock – shooting down his leg. Other days can be much  better. I have stopped stretching his hamstrings as it brings on his  sciatica. He has also found that drawing his navel into his spine whilst standing can also bring on his sciatica. Is this a case of
improving his core and posture will get to the root of the problem -  and we should keep going as long as he has good form and the pain  doesnt get worse? Overall he has made some massive improvement. Is there anything you can recommend?

My first rec would be to refer out to a CHEK Level 1 or higher, as they are tuned into assisting healing with this. You could make the issue worse if you let more time pass by. There are many reasons why one might have sciatic like symptoms. Here is what might be going on:

  1. I could be just piriformis syndrome. Some reg corrective exercise and NMT typically does the trick.
  2. According to the Lovett Reactor, what ever happens above, happens below and vice versa. There might be something going on up in the cervical region, which will create tension in the spinal cord. The body does not like this, so it will cause other vertebrae in the lumbar spine to rotate the same way to relieve some tension. This can cause nerve root compressions, facet joint inflammation, disc pathologies leading to nerve impingements, etc.
  3. We naturally breathe, which assist the CSF flow. This is called the cerebral spinal pump, when we inhale and exhale correctly. When we don’t, you will see people rock back and forth when they breathe. You will see this in the frontal plane when you assess static posture or on the weighted scales for front to back weight measurement. When the body becomes even more dysfunctional over time from doing this, the body will start to pick the transverse plane to move in. According to Dejarnette, this will cause disc protrusions and nerve pathologies
  4. The sciatic nerve is long. You need to know where it is referring, when, in what positions, their postural distortion, what repetitive movements he does during the day, myotomal and dermatomal patterns, weight shift, which way the shoulders are over the hips, etc. This will tell you at what level of the lumbar spine and what nerve root is causing this issue. Typically, the more shift there is and the lower the “sciatic” pain, the higher derangement it is. There are 7 that you will learn about in Level 1.
  5. He most likely gets sciatic pain when he does a so called drawing in maneuver because it is faulty. He is most likely creating a posterior tilt, using glutes and RA. He needs to use TVA, IO and EO for this, which will not create sciatic pain.
  6. The Relation of the Kidney System in TCM and Low Back Pain: The low back is the “mansion of the Kidneys” meaning that the low back is most closely related, but not limited to, the health of the Kidney system. It is without question, in low back pain, that the Kidney system be treated in Chinese medicine.
  7. Back on the subject of Qi, it is said in Chinese Medicine: If there is free flow, there is no pain;
If there is no free flow, there is pain.
Basically, what this means is if the Qi and/or blood stagnate in the channel(s), specifically through the region of the low back, there will be pain. Imagine a river flowing unimpeded and suddenly a tree falls across the river, we see in our imagination the water no longer flowing freely, but getting blocked by the log, pushing into the banks of the river. The basic concept of acupuncture is to re-open the river, create a circulation so that the log lifts and normal flow is restored. How does the free flow of Qi and blood in the body become impeded, so as to cause pain?  An external invasion of wind, cold, dampness, or heat may invade the lower back region causing pain. If our defensive Qi or immune system is weak we become more susceptible to external invasions through the pores of our skin. The Qi and blood can stagnate due to trauma (i.e. lifting, repetitive strain over time, an accident or similar sprain). There may be an insufficiency of Qi or blood creating a sluggishness or stagnation of flow throughout the channel(s). This is an internal cause or weakness with a number of possible etiologies such as: Poor diet, insufficient rest coupled with too much activity or overwork (i.e. busy lives, excessive sex*), overuse of drugs, chronic illness, heredity weakness, an excess of the emotions fear and anxiety, and general aging as our Qi is naturally declining.

The Chinese believe that a healthy, moderate amount of sex supports a good flow of Qi and too much sex (specifically ejaculation for men and childbirth for women), depletes the Qi, blood and essence of the Kidneys

Type and Treatment

1. Type of Cold-DampnessSymptoms: Localized pain below the loins and in the lower limbs which is relieved by heat and aggravated by cold and moving, thin white tongue coating, and taut tense pulse.Therapeutic Method: Warming up the channels to dispel cold, removing dampness to clear the network-channels.

2. Type of Damp-HeatSymptoms: Burning and tic pain or heaviness and numbness or red-swelling and hot-pain of joints in the loins and lower limbs, reddened tongue with thin yellow coating, and slippery rapid pulse.Therapeutic Method: clearing away heat and dampness, promoting the circulation of blood to activate the collaterals.

3. Type of Blood-Stasis

Symptoms: Persistent stabbing pain aggravated by moving in the loins and lower limbs, difficulty in moving, dark red tongue with petechiae and thin white coating, and deep uneven pulse.

Therapeutic Method: Promoting the circulation of blood to remove blood stasis, clearing the collaterals to arrest pain.

Memory Problems at 84 y/o

A very dear and close friend of my family is experiencing memory
problems.
During conversations he’ll occasionally struggle to remember dates,
places and people he’s talking about.

Not to be a pessimist, but 84 years old is a ripe age. Nature takes its course and we need to flow with nature, instead of fighting it. The more we flow, the more we are. He has 84 years of most likely poor eating, thinking and living. It is hard to unwind that with so many engrams in the brain. But, here are some things that you might look into to help him flow better with life. With someone this age, you need to take it slow as there are tons of physical, toxic, mental, emotional, etc programmed patterns within each body. If you treat to fast, you could have what is called separation of yin and yang = death. Probably not a negative thing for some, but it seems like this guy wants to be in his physical body for some time longer.

  1. All the NLC foundational principles. I would focus more on eating like a protein type, with higher amounts of fat. The myelin sheath is a proteolipid bilayer.
  2. Increase the dose of cod liver oil to 4-8K mg
  3. I would eliminate all MSG, aspartame, natural products or anything with excitotoxins. This has been shown to cause neurological burnout of neurons.
  4. Regular qi gong or acupuncture to re-establish the flow of qi up and down within the bodies.
  5. There are tons of mind exercises that would be helpful. I have found doing R brained activities with clients, such as mandala’s, having them draw a representation of their days at the end of the day, etc helps to stimulate the brain.
  6. Sound healings or Healing Touch Therapy really helps to open me up all the way to the soul level. It creates clarity within each layer of my being.
  7. I would also just focus on quality of life at this point with him. What makes him happy and gives him purpose right now?

Fat Return After Liposuction????

 Question:

From a trainer’s perspective, what impact would liposuction have on a training program? I’ve got a 30-year-old female client who recently had liposuction off of her glutes and thighs (eight months before we started training). The fat has come back. She mentioned to me that she is now thinking of getting some more “sucked off” in eight weeks (we’ve only worked together a few times), since it has come back unevenly. In addition, I’m working to convince her to invest the money in PT and improve her overall quality of life, rather than pay a doctor $5K and still be unhappy. What are your thoughts?

Answer:

This is a common situation that some practitioners, including myself, run into on a regular basis. There are many reasons why females accumulate fat in those areas, why humans accumulate fat in general, why the fat comes back after liposuction and why most people and MDs overlook the mental/emotional aspects that are attached to the accumulation of fat in specific areas. I am going to do my best to keep it short and sweet, but that is not in my nature. After reading this, if you have any further questions, feel free to email me.

Why do humans accumulate fat in general? This is quite simple and most of the time overlooked by all. If you look at the diets and lifestyles of many Americans, you will see some common threads that lead to fat accumulation:

  1. Overabundance of trans fats
  2. Overabundance of refined/processed foods
  3. Overabundance of alcohol
  4. Overabundance of pasteurized milk
  5. Over exposure to the many faces of stress (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, chemical, EMF, environment, etc.)

This all equates to an overabundance of toxins that Americans are ingesting and being exposed to on a daily basis. When it comes down to it, fat stores toxins. So, the poorer her nutrition and lifestyle habits are, the more fat she is going to accumulate.

There are two easy explanations/examples you can use to get the point across to your client. The first point is to educate her about the Law of Cause and Effect. It is simple: for everything she does in her life, there will be a cause or result. It is not by chance things happen to us; it is by choice! So with the liposuction, she is only treating the result or in this case the symptom of a major issue being smoke screened by the liposuction. Americans today are extremely lazy and unhealthy, not wanting to take responsibility for themselves. This is a prime example. The other example you can use is how they feed and breed cows before they slaughter them. The biggest (fattest) cow wins, and the breeder gets the most money. So what do conventional farmers do? They feed cows everything and anything (feces, dead animals, saw dust, cement dust, blood, plastic, etc). Why do they do this? Because fat stores toxins!

There are many other factors involved in gaining weight/fat when consistently working out. As a C.H.E.K Practitioner, I use many physical, neurological, nutritional, physiological and lifestyle assessments to get to the root of clients’ dysfunctions. Here are some areas you should look into yourself, or you could refer your client out in order to keep this dreaded fat away.

  1. Hormonal imbalances (any drop or increase in estrogen/progesterone will cause a spike in cortisol=fat storing hormone)
  2. Gut dysfunction (permeability, parasites, H. Pylori, hypochlorhydria to name a few). This leads to increased internal stress, increased cortisol levels, altered gland function and so on. The end result is weight gain.
  3. Endocrine gland dysfunction (adrenals and thyroid, which correlate with one another). The adrenal glands are used under any time of sympathetic stress. If a person is always stressed (most of the time internally), cortisol will continually be released. Once again, cortisol is a fat-storing hormone.
  4. Visceral dysfunction (uterus, ovaries, kidney/bladder, liver/GB, etc inflammation or inhibition).
  5. To take it even to a deeper level, fat in this area correlates with the Root (1st) Chakra or the adrenal glands (stress hormone glands that produce cortisol). This pertains to getting your physical needs met, being safe, secure and grounded and establishing your “I”dentity between the ages 0-7 years old. The real issue could be that she is a child running around in an adult’s body, afraid to come out secondary to never getting her needs met. Why is she getting all this cosmetic surgery? Is it to please her inner being? NO! It is to please the EGO, as well as societies idea of what a woman her age should look like. The mental, emotional and spiritual bodies are manifested in the physical body. So if you think along those lines, she needs more than just nutrition and exercise.

What should you do at this point?

  1. I would find a skilled C.H.E.K Practitioner in your area to team up with in order to educate her. As well, have her purchase Paul Chek’s book How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy! This includes a lot of the information I’ve talked about as well as what you need to talk with her about.
  2. You can work with Dr. Kalish at www.naturalpath.com to do some hormonal and gut testing through Bio Health. This could give you some answers on why she continues to attract unwanted fat. Dysfunctions within the hormonal and endocrine systems are often the reason why people can’t either lose weight or continue to gain no matter what they do.
  3. Do some research on www.mercola.com and look into holistic ways of eating and living.
  4. Use Paul’s book, a C.H.E.K Practitioner or Intermediate Metabolic Typing Advisor to find out her Metabolic Type. This will figure out exactly what types of foods and the ratios of foods her body needs to use for energy and not store as fat.
  5. Teach her or refer her to a Qi Gong or C.H.E.K Practitioner so she can learn ways to detoxify and relieve certain internal stressors that are occuring. This is common, but because humans can’t feel it, they think they are healthy. Stress and increased cortisol levels that never come down cause weight gain.

Good luck!
